Make It Count Foundation Helps Make the Holiday Season Bright

For countless families across Long Island, the financial strain can make celebrating the holidays seem like a distant dream. Fortunately, there are organizations like the Make It Count Foundation and United Way of Long Island dedicated to helping those in need during this special time of year. Organized in partnership with Housing Help Inc., this annual holiday program brought joy to 25 children.  

United Way of Long Island is pleased to welcome a new Board Chair and new Board Members.

The new Board Chair for United Way of Long Island is Lynda Nicolino, Chief Legal Counsel of the Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Ms. Nicolino succeeds Alexander G.  Bateman, Jr., Partner at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek P.C., who served as chair for four years.

Aaron Choo, Vice President Gas Field Operations & Programs Downstate of National Grid will serve as Vice Chair Elect.

Emergency Fuel Fund Opens as Winter Kicks Inbus

January 10, 2022 (Deer Park, NY) – As winter kicks in, Long Island is experiencing temperatures that have dropped below freezing. To ensure the heat stays on in homes across the region, United Way of Long Island, in partnership with Nassau Inter-County Express/NICE Bus, is raising awareness about Project Warmth.

Bay Shore resident and U.S. Army veteran Thomas DeKenipp has crossed the finish line in the TCS NYC Marathon and raised over $3,100 for United Way of Long Island’s veterans’ programs.   The nonprofit was named an Official Charity Partner of the 2021 TCS New York City Marathon, which took place on Sunday, November 7, 2021.

JenBay Shore resident Jen Modica has crossed the finish line in the TCS NYC Marathon and raised over $4,300 for United Way of Long Island’s veterans programs.   The nonprofit was named an Official Charity Partner of the 2021 TCS New York City Marathon, which took on Sunday, November 7, 2021.

For the 30th time, Freeport resident Alma Rocha has crossed the finish line in the TCS NYC Marathon – and for the third time as a member of United Way of Long Island’s Team Mission United.  At the same time, she raised over $2,100 in support of the not-for-profit’s veterans programs.
