MISSION UNITED

Mission United is a critical funding source for programs of United Way of Long Island supporting U.S. military veterans and their families on Long Island as they re-acclimate to civilian life. Mission United funding helps provide services and resources in job training, employment assistance and emergency financial aid.

Through Mission United, United Way is aligning existing services and creating solutions where there are gaps in support. The need for these services is particularly significant on Long Island as there are more than 95,000 veterans living in our communities.

Thanks to a generous contribution from the Bob Woodruff Foundation, Mission United was able to assist 33 veterans affected by COVID 19-related unemployment with emergency food and rent arrears assistance.

VETSBUILD

VetsBuild, a signature program of United Way of Long Island's Mission United, is dedicated to the support of veterans and their families in our community. Many veterans on Long Island struggle to find a career path that will lead to financial independence. VetsBuild represents United Way of Long Island's commitment to addressing this problem by providing job training in the green energy construction field for our local heroes. View program details.
