April 12, 2021 (Deer Park, NY) - United Way of Long Island was awarded a $225,000 grant from The Banyan Tree Roots Foundation, based in Smithtown. This generous contribution will support the organization’s education programs, as well as pandemic recovery efforts.

Vicente receives COVID-19 VaccineApril 1, 2021 (Deer Park) – United Way’s Safe at Home assists Long Island seniors who have been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, notably those with chronic health conditions and who are at home and sheltering-in-place. A recent grant from Capital One will help ensure that United Way of Long Island can respond to the urgent health needs of these neighbors.

Town of Hempstead Supports Seniors through 354k Grant

Hempstead, New York (November 17, 2020)—The Town of Hempstead has launched a new initiative with United Way of Long Island in an effort to further protect senior citizens from COVID-19. The $354,492 grant approved by Hempstead Town Supervisor Don Clavin and the Hempstead Town Board will fund the installation of 560 portable medical-grade HEPA air filtration units in at-risk seniors’ homes as well as some doctor offices.
