GARDEN CITY RESIDENT, DR. JERMAINE F. WILLIAMS, PRESIDENT, NASSAU COMMUNITY COLLEGE, JOINS UNITED WAY OF LONG ISLAND’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

United Way of Long Island recently elected Garden City resident Dr. Jermaine F Williams, President of Nassau Community College to its Board of Directors.  Throughout his career in higher education, Dr. Williams has focused his impact on improving access, retention, graduation and other measures of student success.   He is committed to reforming marginalized communities by strategically creating programs, policies and critical initiatives that support and yield positive student outcomes.    

Dr. Williams remarked, “I am truly honored to be elected to the Board of Directors for United Way of Long Island and to serve alongside such distinguished leaders. Nassau Community College is grateful for organizations like United Way who share our passion to effectively positively impact the lives of Long Islanders.”  He added, “As Nassau County’s sole Community College, we are supporting the needs of our community residents and look forward to deepening partnerships with United Way that speak to their building blocks of health, education, and financial stability.” 

Theresa A. Regnante, President and CEO of United Way of Long Island emphasized, “Dr. Williams brings a passion for higher learning that complements our commitment to education.  His vision also supports our mission of preparing young people – who are our future - to be successful and achieve their full potential.”  
 
Dr. Williams received a Master of Arts in Sociology from St John’s University, a Master of Educational Administration and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Administration from Temple University. He also holds certificates from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education for completion of the Seminar for New Presidents and Management Development Program. In 2018-2019 he was selected for the Aspen Presidential Fellowship for Community College Excellence led by the Aspen Institute.
