Serving Those Who Served Our Country
Mission United is a critical program of United Way of Long Island supporting US military Veterans and their families on Long Island by helping them re-acclimate to civilian life. Key focus areas include employment readiness, education, health, legal assistance, emergency financial aid, and housing. Through Mission United, United Way of Long Island is aligning existing services and creating solutions where there are gaps in support. The need for these services is particularly significant on Long Island as we have more than 115,000 veterans living in our communities. Nassau and Suffolk Counties are home to 15.2% of all veterans living in New York State.
VetsBuild, a signature program of United Way of Long Island's Mission United, is dedicated to the support of veterans and their families in our community. One out of every five veterans on Long Island struggles to find a career path that will lead to financial independence. VetsBuild represents United Way of Long Island's commitment to addressing this problem by changing lives and building futures for our local heroes.
VetsBuild is currently recruiting new students. Click here for more information.
