CITY NATIONAL BANK SUPPORTS UNITED WAY’S RESPONSE FUND FOR COVID-19

Contribution will help Long Islanders affected by the coronavirus pandemic

May 26, 2020 (Deer Park)  – United Way of Long Island’s “UNITED TOGETHER: A Response Fund For COVID-19” recently launched with contributions from leading supporters including a generous gift from City National Bank, America’s Premier Private and Business Bank®. The contribution will help the nonprofit provide relief to thousands of Long Islanders in their time of need.

“Due to the action from companies like City National Bank, we have already helped over 5,000 Long Islanders who have been unemployed or furloughed due to the effects of COVID-19,” said Theresa A. Regnante, President and CEO of United Way of Long Island.  She added, “This generous contribution is ensuring that we can continue to help families, now and in the future, afford basic necessities while they are not receiving a paycheck.”

The Fund provides direct emergency financial assistance to Long Island families that are experiencing financial hardship due to the public health emergency, by providing them with food and household essentials.

“City National is proud to support UNITED TOGETHER,” said Davi Tserpelis, senior vice president and business banking manager at City National. “It is critical that all families in the Long Island community have access to children’s education, family healthcare and financial stability. Our contribution will help support the organization’s mission that is even more important during the pandemic.”

After doing business and working with clients on Long Island for nearly three years, City National opened its first Long Island regional center in Melville last November to provide business and personal banking services to local small businesses and middle-market companies. The bank has been dedicated to the community ever since.
