“I have learned through this experience that art can play an important role in expressing feelings and emotions. Many times kids cannot express these deep feelings verbally so art becomes a powerfuloutlet, especially for these girls who come from difficult backgrounds.” |
Tayler Bradford, a junior at North Shore High School, strives to be the best she can be in everything she does.Accomplished in both academics and athletics, she is also passionate about music and art. Working with her friend, Tayler developed an art program from the ground up that targets young members of her Sea Cliff community. They advertised, bought suplies, created a curriculum, and raised $1,200 from enrollment fees. Impressed by NSHH’s work at its camp for young girls whose families fall below the poverty line, they donated themoney raised to NSHH in support of their art program. With art programs continually being cut in public schools and believing it important to introduce art to these young girls, Tayler volunteered her time to create and teach several art classes at NSHH during her summer break. With a full schedule of Honors and Advanced Placement courses, Tayler has consistently achieved High Honor Role and plans on tutoring struggling students as part of the National Honor Society. She was selected as student speaker at her 8th grade graduation, elected Secretary of the Student Council in 9th grade, as well as selected Student of the Month in 10th grade. She is a member of the Varsity Tennis Team, receiving a Scholar Athlete Award every year since Freshman year and was awarded Most Improved Player by her coach. |
