After many years with National Grid, Pat spent her last year as a passionate “Loaned Executive” from National Grid to the United Way of Long Island and worked full time in the organization since January 2017.
To honor Pat’s commitment and tireless efforts, the Michels Family & National Grid along with United Way of Long Island are launching The Patricia Michels Memorial Scholarship Fund. This Fund will provide academic scholarships to deserving young women attending YouthBuild who wish to pursue their dreams and aspirations by attending an accredited college, university or technical school. Pat was fond of working with young people through YouthBuild to advance their skills, education and leadership qualities in order to gain self-sufficiency.
United Way of Long Island's most recent financial reports are accessible at www.unitedwayli.org/aboutus/financial-information. And, the New York State Office of the Attorney General may be contacted at 212.416.8401, or by visiting www.charitiesnys.com, if necessary.
