United Way of Long Island is an independent locally-run charity, led and governed by an independent Board of Directors comprised of leading Long Island community and business leaders. As a 501(c)(3), United Way of Long Island is one of Long Island's most cost-efficient organizations, with 86 cents of every dollar raised given directly to community partners or client support. United Way of Long Island has received the highest ratings from non-profit evaluators including Charity Navigator and Candid (formerly GuideStar). United Way has also earned Candid’s Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level.
