United Way of Long Island is one of Long Island's most cost efficient nonprofit organizations, with 85 cents of every dollar raised given directly to community partner or client support. This exceeds the standard of 65 percent established by the Better Business Bureau. United Way of Long Island also meets the Better Business Bureau's Standards for Charity Accountability

Donors can rest assured that every contribution is tracked and accounted for. United Way is an independent locally-run charity, led and governed by an independent board of directors comprised of leading Long Island community and business leaders.

United Way adheres to stringent financial controls and a system of checks and balances that is monitored by an Audit Committee. All aspects of our finances are subject to an annual independent audit by a respected certified public accounting firm, Nawrocki Smith LLC.
