YouthBuild Long Island is a free youth and community-development program, and alternative school, that simultaneously addresses core issues facing low-income communities. The program serves low-income young adults ages 18 to 24. For many students, YouthBuild is a turning point, a place where they are supported—sometimes for the first time—in believing in their potential and in making decisions that put them on the path of growth and development.

YouthBuild program components include Housing, Education, Job Readiness/Construction Pre-Apprenticeship Training, Career Development, Leadership Development, Counseling and Graduate Services. A strong focus is placed on Green collar job opportunities in Energy Efficiency, Renewables, Weatherization, Energy Star construction, and Home Performance. Students have hands on training with the latest equipment and technology at our brand new E3 Career Training Center in Deer Park.

Live United, Live Green: YouthBuild interfaces with United Way's Green Academy, a green construction/weatherization training program available to pre-YouthBuild students; and Green Job Corps, a training program for YouthBuild graduates and displaced workers for employment positions in weatherization, energy audits, and home improvements.

YouthBuild additionally partners with HempsteadWorks on youth projects including Green & Lean/YouthLink.
