2015 LIVE UNITED Celebration Luncheon Honorees

 The LIVE UNITED Celebration Luncheon is United Way of Long Island's opportunity to honor organizations, individuals, and Labor Unions that exemplify the concept of LIVING UNITED by dedicating time and effort into advancing the common good on Long Island. The well deserving 2015 honorees have all demonstrated an unyielding devotion to improving the lives of all who are in need in our community.

The Anthony J. Stupore LIVE UNITED Volunteer Champion Award was named in memory of an extraordinary individual who demonstrated a distinguished history of volunteer service, and a profound commitment to fulfilling the United Way of Long Island’s mission of advancing the common good. The recipient of this award, personifies the selfless, extraordinarily generous and altruistic qualities demonstrated by Anthony J. Stupore.


Paul Fleishman is among one of the most dedicated volunteer leaders. During the 25 years that he has bee on United Way’s Board of Directors , Paul has been instrumental in helping to raise the visibility and bring awareness to our organization. Paul ensures that United Way of Long Island’s message is always prominent. Paul also volunteers on the Board of Directors for the Variety Child Learning Center in Syosset and the Advisory Board of SUNY Old Westbury’s School of Business. A resident of Hauppauge, Paul’s commitment to volunteerism is well-known throughout the Long Island Community.

The LIVE UNITED Corporate Champion Award recognizing an outstanding company and its employees and their ability to mobilize and enhance the community. They embody the action of give, advocate and volunteer.

 

United Parcel Service (UPS) is the first and only corporate partner in the nation whose cumulative workplace campaign has raised in excess of $1 Billion Dollars. In 2014 employees on Long Island contributed more than $340,000. UPS is the largest package delivery company in the world operation in 200 countries. Managers, employees and teamsters come together on behalf of the greater good. United Way of Long Island cannot succeed without UPS.

The LIVE UNITED Labor Champion Award recognizes the dedicated efforts of a labor union and its members and their ability to mobilize and enhance the community. They embody the action of give, advocate and volunteer.

 

CSEA members of Region One lead the state campaign by contributing hundreds of thousands of dollars every year to help their neighbors through the SEFA campaign. Many of the local CSEA units support returning veterans and their families though Operation LIVE UNITED. Their generosity goes further, as they also support the March of Dimes and cancer organizations by participating in walks and golf outings. They take care of the young and the old. They are the unsung heroes of Long Island.

The Elena M. Perez LIVE UNITED Pioneer Vision Award was named in memory of an extraordinary individual that exhibited a visionary devotion to philanthropy and long-term commitment to creating a better future for all Long Islanders. The recipient of this award, whether an individual or an organization, personifies the exemplary leadership, enthusiastic optimism and vision demonstrated by Elena M. Perez.

In 1994, a group of individuals gathered to brainstorm how they could form an organization that would bring together the insurance community to serve fellow Long Islander’s This organization would bring collaboration between industry colleagues to raise money to help those in need through United Way of Long Island. Twenty years later, Long Island Insurance Community (LIIC) has helped raise over $4.5 million dollars, and continues to support the mission of United Way of Long Island.
