United Way of Long Island Partners with CD-adapco Volunteers to Aid Victim of Hurricane Sandy

Deer Park, NY, May 23rd, 2013- The aftermath of Hurricane Sandy compelled United Way of Long Island to form operation Rebuild and Recovery.  In partnership with the Health & Welfare Council of Long Island and the Long Island Volunteer Center, under the umbrella of Long Island Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (LIVOAD) local companies are being asked to lend a helping hand and work with recovery/rebuild teams as volunteers.

CD-adpaco the world's largest independent CFD-focused provider of engineering simulation software, support and services sent a team of volunteers to help with a Hurricane Sandy recovery/rebuild project at a home in Amityville on Saturday, May 18th.  Under the supervision of team leader Steve Muzyka from the United Way of Long Island, the CD-adapco volunteers removed debris from the home and property and brought new sheet-rock into the house.  They also removed dead shrubs and planted new shrubs.

At the end of the day the volunteers felt great about how their efforts.  “We are here to help and do our part for our Long Island neighbors and friends and we strongly urge more Long Island companies to get involved,” said John Rogers from CD-adapco.

Homeowner Bruce Babbington was there working side by side with the volunteers from CD-adapco and the team leaders from United Way of Long Island and was so grateful for all their hard work and compassion toward his family.  “My thanks to United Way of Long Island and the folks from CD-adapco for their amazing efforts on our behalf,” said Babbington.
