Honored at American Kidney Fund’s Annual Dinner
The American Kidney Fund held its 8th Annual New York Golf Classic at the Hamlet Golf Club in Commack on Tuesday August 5th. Among the Honorees was Maria Grasso, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Flushing Bank. Maria is also a Board Member of United Way of Long island. Maria took the microphone to accept the recognition she received from American Kidney Fund and delivered the evening’s most emotionally charged moment. She tearfully described the pain and fear she experienced when she discovered that one of her children, who is now 16 years old, was suffering from ill health and was born with only one kidney. Maria thanked the evening’s participants and applauded the work being done by American Kidney Fund. She implored audience members to make donations to the fund and her story moved everyone in the audience.
