Deer Park, NY, May 3rd, 2013- United Way of New York City was awarded a donation of 90,000 books from Scholastic, Inc. with the intent of helping schools that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The books are to be used to replace materials that were destroyed in the storm and are geared towards 7th and 8th graders (Middle School aged children).
United Way of Long Island reached out to Freeport and Long Beach School Districts and both immediately responded that they would be delighted to receive the books.   Coordination of the delivery will be handled by Con-way Freight and is already underway.
