NATIONAL GRID GIVES $75,000 TO UNITED WAY’S RESPONSE FUND FOR COVID-19

May 7, 2020 (Deer Park) – United Way of Long Island’s “UNITED TOGETHER: A Response Fund For COVID-19” recently launched with contributions from leading supporters including a $75,000 gift from National Grid. The funding is enabling the not-for-profit to take immediate and continued action as well as act as a source of support to provide relief to thousands of Long Islanders in their time of need.

April 16, 2020 (Deer Park) – United Way of Long Island’s “UNITED TOGETHER: A Response Fund For COVID-19” launched this month with contributions from leading supporters including Bank of America and the New York Jets.  With equal gifts totaling $500,000, the funding is enabling the not-for-profit to take immediate action and act as a source of support to provide relief to thousands of Long Islanders in their time of need.

February 11, 2020 (Central Islip, NY) – February 11, 2020 marks the 10 year anniversary of 211 Long Island. To celebrate this milestone occasion, United Way of Long Island joined a nationwide effort in recognition of 211 Day, held on February 11th.
 

June Begins Hurricane Season - BeReadyLI Helps Long Islanders Prepare

Long Island can be an extremely vulnerable region – it is susceptible to natural disasters ranging from blizzards to heatwaves to hurricanes. June marks the beginning of the Atlantic Hurricane Season, which runs through November 30. Recognizing the importance of being prepared and staying safe, United Way of Long Island, 2-1-1 Long Island and PSEG Long Island created BeReadyLI.org, a comprehensive online resource aimed at helping residents prepare before, during and after disasters.
