NASSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER PARTNERS WITH UNITED WAY TO DISTRIBUTE GIFT CARDS TO NEW FAMILIES THROUGH BORN UNITED

United Way of Long Island Launches Born United: A Community Baby Shower to Support Families with Infants and Young Children

May 26, 2020 (Deer Park) – Parenthood can be overwhelming for anyone, especially during the time of COVID-19. With unemployment at an all-time high and the crisis at its peak, United Way of Long Island is responding by helping families with infants and young children.

Born United: A Community Baby Shower provides new parents with essential care items needed during the first year of a child’s life, including diapers, wipes, bottles and baby food.

“There are thousands of expectant families across Long Island who are struggling financially due to the effects of COVID-19. The Born United initiative is an opportunity for United Way to support hospitals by allowing our healthcare responders to provide a gift to the family as they start their journey with their new member,” said Theresa A. Regnante, President and CEO of United Way of Long Island.

Nassau University Medical Center, located in East Meadow, is a Born United partner; they receive gift cards to distribute to mothers who recently gave birth. “We appreciate being a partner with United Way and the support provided to our new mothers,” said Anthony Boutin, MD Interim CEO of Nassau University Medical Center.

The marketing concept was developed by EGC Group, which includes a heartwarming video. Ernie Canadeo, Founder and CEO, said, “When our team was presented the idea of creating a campaign that would highlight United Way’s Community Baby Shower initiative, EGC rose to the occasion and created…Born United.”

Regnante added, “We are grateful to have the support of such a superior advertising agency to create the Born United media campaign, as it perfectly aligns with our mission.”

Born United: A Community Baby Shower is an initiative of UNITED TOGETHER: A Response Fund For COVID-19, which was established to help support vulnerable families, with infants and toddlers, who have been financially affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
