LONG ISLAND VETERANS WIN BIG AT BETS FOR VETS CASINO NIGHT

Transport Workers Union Local 252 host Casino Night in Hauppauge to support United Way of Long Island
United Way of Long Island is the “lucky” recipient of the annual Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 252 Bets For Vets Casino Night.  The event, held at IBEW Local 25 in Hauppauge, raised over $20,000 in support of veterans initiatives.

Proceeds benefit United Way of Long Island’s Mission United, which focuses on supporting veterans’ services including, introductory building science job training, vital case management services and emergency financial assistance for veterans and their families. The need is particularly significant, as there are more than 95,000 veterans living on Long Island.

“TWU Local 252 has been a strong advocate and supporter of Mission United, and we are grateful that they continue to find engaging ways to show their dedication to helping veterans,” said Theresa A. Regnante, President & CEO of United Way of Long Island.

“This year’s Casino Night was a tremendous success due to the outpouring of support from TWU Local 252 members who attended and donated goods and services,” said Debra Hagan, President of TWU Local 252. “We are proud to make this contribution to our long-time partner knowing that the funds directly help our local heroes.”

More than 300 attendees enjoyed an evening of fun and excitement. The Casino Night featured traditional games such as craps, roulette and blackjack, as well as a special ceremony honoring the veterans in attendance. An overflowing buffet of food and beverages was available, all generously donated by local restaurants and companies.
