Islip Arts Council Announces Annual Free Concert in the Park

Islip Arts Counctil Concert 2013

Recovery through the Arts – Play It Forward to be held at
Heckscher State Park in East Islip, July 13, 2013

On Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 8 P.M. the Islip Arts Council will present their annual free concert at Heckscher Park in East Islip, dedicated to our friends, neighbors and loved ones, who are still putting their lives back together from the effects of Hurricane Sandy. The Islip Arts Council, in partnership with the United Way of Long Island, will donate a portion of the net proceeds from this event to help those individuals get through this life-changing episode. The concert is aptly named Recovery through the Arts – Play it Forward.  Last summer over 30,000 attended the annual free concert sponsored by the Islip Arts Council.

Bethpage Federal Credit Union joins Suffolk County, the Town of Islip and Northville Industries as the lead sponsors of this event. As Lynda Moran, the Executive Director of the Arts Council explained, “The concert committee looks at this year’s concert as Long Islanders helping Long Islanders…and this year, Long Island artists will perform a rousing concert of American band music.”  The Atlantic Wind Symphony will present classical music, Sousa Marches and patriotic tunes and the Swingtime Big Band will present swing music from the 30s and 40s. There is no admission charge.

As always, Fireworks by Grucci will end the concert with a spectacular show.
