GEICO Donates 2,000 Pounds of Necessities to United Way of Long Island's Mission United Veterans Supply Drive

United Veterans Beacon House is Recipient of Donations

United Way of Long Island’s largest corporate partner, GEICO, recently participated in the Mission United Veterans Day Supply Drive that benefitted United Veterans Beacon House, which provides housing and support services for veterans and their families.

The drive supported hundreds of veterans on Long Island who are homeless, or are transitioning to independent housing, and are without the basic necessities needed to make life manageable, including toiletries, undergarments, and bedding.

The associates from GEICO’s Woodbury regional office held a supply drive that collected 2,000 pounds of necessities and delivered them to United Veterans Beacon House. The supplies will be sorted and distributed among the 42 United Veterans Beacon House homes across Long Island.

As a result of GEICO’s commitment to fundraising, community engagement, and volunteerism, GEICO has been named the 2019 Corporate Honoree of the United Way of Long Island’s annual LIVE UNITED Celebration Luncheon, which will take place May 8, 2019.
