FELIX RUIZ CHAIR OF THE PLANNING COUNCIL JOINS UNITED WAY OF LONG ISLAND’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

United Way of Long Island recently elected Felix Ruiz to its Board of Directors. Felix has been a member of the Nassau-Suffolk HIV Health Services Planning Council with United Way of Long Island since 2016 and was recently appointed Chair. He is currently a Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Specialist at Hudson River HealthCare and is a licensed social worker.
 
Previously, Felix worked at FEGS Positive Space where he provided mental health counseling and organized support groups for those in need. He also worked at Family Service League as a Coordinator for Positive STEPS which incorporated counseling and support groups for Persons Living with HIV/AIDS and with a history of substance use. 
 
“It is an honor to expand my range of influence here at United Way of Long Island. The organization makes an incredible impact on the region and I am glad to play a role in their mission,” remarked Felix Ruiz.

Felix received his Master of Social Work degree from Stony Brook University. He lives in Holbrook.
