United Way's YouthBuild Long Island Receives National Recognition

United Way of Long Island’s YouthBuild Long Island program has been presented the award for 100% Program Completion by YouthBuild USA. The award recognized YouthBuild Long Island for leading the way in program excellence and accomplishing the highest student completion rate in 2011. YouthBuild Long Island Director, Elizabeth Morgan, was additionally presented the national Above and Beyond award for her leadership and commitment to the program.

YouthBuild is a youth and community-development program that simultaneously addresses core issues facing low-income communities: housing, education, employment, crime prevention, and leadership development. At YouthBuild, low-income young people, ages 18 to 24, work towards their GEDs while learning green-industry job skills by building affordable Green housing for low- to moderate-income people, and participating in leadership development activities in their communities.
