Veterans Hiring Project in Development at United Way of Long Island

United Way of Long Island understands the challenges veterans face today when they return home and need to transition into the civilian workforce. Through a generous grant from Bethpage Federal Credit Union, United Way is developing a new Veterans Hiring Project that will actively collaborate with the corporate community to take significant steps to help returning veterans find gainful employment to support their families. The project is currently in the development stages with a target launch this fall.

The Veterans Hiring Project will bring together the corporate community seeking to hire veterans with our returning troops in need of jobs. The project’s goal is to assist returning service members in securing sustainable employment, giving them the opportunity to become independent and self sufficient. United Way plans to construct a one-stop, web-based platform that can be accessed by returning veterans seeking employment and other support services, and by corporations looking to hire them.
