Charity Navigator, America’s premier charity evaluator has once again awarded United Way of Long Island the much coveted 4-star rating for sound fiscal management and commitment to transparency and accountability in 2012. Only 16% of the charities rated have received at least two consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that United Way of Long Island outperforms most other charities in America.
This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator differentiates United Way of Long Island from its peers and demonstrates to the public that it is exceptionally worthy of their trust.
“We are very proud to have received this award for the second year, which highlights both our efficiency and transparency,” said Theresa Regnante, President & CEO of United Way of Long Island. “Eighty-eight cents of every dollar is spent programmatically on Long Island with only twelve cents spent on administrative costs. This demonstrates our commitment to our communities, to our donors and partners to be fiscally responsible and accountable as a leader in the nonprofit arena,” she added.
The four star designation reflects that United Way of Long Island adheres to good governance and best practices in executing its mission. The rating also demonstrates that United Way of Long Island has outperformed most other charities in America as only twenty five percent of those surveyed receive this prestigious honor.
