Michael Cooney
Senior Vice President, Resource Development

Michael Cooney is senior vice president of resource development. He manages all corporate workplace giving campaigns, as well as the State Employees Federated Appeal, the Combined Federal Campaign, Project Warmth and the Long Island Insurance Community annual event.

Before joining United Way of Long Island, Cooney spent 23 years with the YMCA of Long Island as the director of development and executive director of Great South Bay YMCA, where he was responsible for a $6 million capital campaign and the construction of a new full-facility YMCA located in Bay Shore.

A native Long Islander, Cooney has an MSW from SUNY Stony Brook.
