Ground-Breaking Housing Initiatives Build Lasting Foundations at United Way
Several housing initiatives are being enhanced and launched as part of United Way of Long Island’s Impact Area assisting neighbors in need this year—Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS, Senior Access to Home and YouthBuild—because having safe, affordable and accessible homes is vital to changing lives on Long Island.

Also in May 2007, The Long Island Power Authority, United Way of Long Island, community groups and building trades teamed up to host the ENERGY STAR® for Affordable Housing Conference. The seminar focused on making affordable housing more affordable through LIPA’s New York ENERGY STAR Labeled Homes Program.
