Nassau-Suffolk HIV Health Services Planning Council, Part A

United Way of Long Island provides staffing support for the Nassau-Suffolk HIV Health Services Planning Council. The Planning Council is a 43 member planning body which provides planning for the Long Island region and promotes the development of HIV/AIDS services that meet the needs of people living with HIV/AIDS. The Planning Council sets the priorities for Ryan White Part A funding in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

Meetings are held 4 to 6 times a year, there are three standing committees: Executive Committee; Strategic Assessment & Planning Committee and Quality Assurance & Membership Committee and two subcommittees: Finance Subcommittee and Consumer Involvement Subcommittee (joint committee with Part B planning group). In planning for the use of funds, the Planning Council sponsors community meetings, conducts surveys of providers and consumers, and gathers data from a variety of sources.
