United Way of Long Island approaches solving community problems by setting goals, selecting the best partners and measuring results to ensure the greatest impact is achieved with your donations. Our Community Impact Fund focuses on four impact areas: improving access to health care, reducing hunger, supporting children and youth, and assisting neighbors in need.
Contributions to United Way of Long Island support local organizations and programs, such as The Parent-Child Home Program, which is an early literacy, parenting and school readiness program providing intensive home visiting to families challenged by poverty, low levels of education, and language and literacy barriers; The Retreat, an agency providing counseling, legal advocacy, a 24-hour hotline and emergency shelter to women and children who are victims of domestic violence; and United Way's own Project Warmth, which provides emergency heating assistance to more than 1,400 Long Island families annually.
Through workplace giving campaigns, corporate gifts, major gifts, foundation grants and individual donations, United Way of Long Island works to ensure that Long Island individuals and families receive the help they need to lead more productive, self-sufficient lives. Because of our donors, United Way is able to strengthen our community impact initiatives and increase our support of community partner programs and services.
