State Employees Federated Appeal
The State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) offers state employees the opportunity to give to a local, national or international charity of their choice through the ease of payroll deduction. SEFA is the only authorized fundraising campaign for state employees approved by the Office of General Services, and is managed locally by United Way of Long Island.
Where Does Your Money Go?
In 2008, Long Island SEFA raised more than $457,000 for local, statewide, national and international charities. Annually, 90 percent of your contribution goes directly to the agency of your choice. Ten percent is used for administration costs.
Make an Impact on Your Community
By donating to SEFA, you make a lasting impact on your community. Designation of your gift is encouraged so you can control how your dollars are invested. To designate all or a portion of your gift to one or more of the listed organizations, simply indicate the number of agency on your SEFA pledge form listed in the online directory. You can designate local Long Island agencies, to any state (New York), national or international agency or to a federation. SEFA encompasses more than 450 charitable organizations and eight federations such as United Way of Long Island, America's Charities, Earth Share of New York, Community Health Charities of NY, Independent Charities of America, Neighbor to Nation, Global Impact, Community Works of NYS, Inc.
For more information, contact Millie Lucas, Long Island SEFA director, at mlucas@unitedwayli.org or 631.940.3732. Visit www.sefa.state.ny.us for more information.
