Bank of America has provided United Way of Long Island with a $25,000 grant to contract with five community based organizations in Suffolk County that provided summer youth employment project (SYEP) opportunities for ten high school/college students from underserved communities. During the month of August, United Way of Long Island is inviting companies to collect school supplies on behalf of children in underserved school districts.  The supplies will be donated to local districts as part of United Way’s 4th Annual Stuff-A-Bus Campaign. Last year, tens of thousands of school supply items on behalf of children in the underserved school districts of Copiague, Central Islip and Brentwood. United Way of Long Island has received $325,000 from JPMorgan Chase to support its Community Schools Project initiative, which operates in the Westbury and Freeport School Districts.  The project serves middle and intermediate school students (grades 5-8) from the Westbury Middle and the Caroline G.
