If you or a loved one needs immediate assistance to local needed services, United Way of Long Island and its community partners can help.
- Call 2-1-1, a free, non-emergency information and referral service that connects LI residents to health & human services they may need on a daily basis or during a disaster. 211 provides information on nearly 10,000 community resources for help and assistance in myriad areas – from basic daily needs such as food, heat and shelter to job training, financial services, and child and/or elder care. The Call Center operates 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., seven days a week, and is reached by calling 2-1-1 or 1-888-774-7633.

Education
- The Community Schools Project combines teaching and learning with the delivery of an array of social, health, child and youth development services, while emphasizing community and parental involvement. The project currently serves middle school students from the Westbury School District.
- DREAMS for Youth Scholarship Program, provides scholarships to young people, grades 7 through 12, in academics, enrichment and community service.
- YouthBuild Long Island, provides unemployed young adults, ages 18 to 24, with the opportunity to earn their GEDs, learn construction skills and serve their communities by building energy efficient, affordable housing.
- Project Warmth, Long Island’s Emergency Fuel Fund, provides one-time grants to oil and utility companies on behalf of residents facing heating emergencies.
- Emergency Food and Shelter Program, provides assistance for food, utilities and shelter to individuals and families in emergency situations who meet the federal eligibility guidelines.
- Access to Home, provides accessibility modifications to homes of low-income individuals in Nassau and Suffolk counties that enable citizens to stay in their own homes, rather than move into assisted care.
- RESTORE, helps low-income senior homeowners (ages 60+) in Nassau and Suffolk counties to pay for emergency home repairs to eliminate hazardous conditions.
- FamilyWize Prescription Discount Program, provides prescription drug discount cards to Long Islanders without health insurance or who are in need of medications not covered by their insurance plans.
- HIV/AIDS Services, are coordinated by United Way, the lead agency that administers federal funds to provide resources for people living with HIV/AIDS.
